Birthday Card Ideas for Your Favorite Sports Fanatic

Making a personalized handmade greeting card requires a little creativity, but if you already know what makes your birthday boy or girl happy then it becomes easy to find ways to make them laugh or smile on their special day with a specially created greeting card!

Here are some ways to incorporate sports into a homemade birthday card:

  • Favorite Sports Team or Team:
This one is easy! Find some pictures of their favorite sports team's logo and make a cool collage.

Or if you find one cool logo, make that the centerpiece of the handmade birthday card. You can even make the card using team colors to add some extra flair!

  • Sports Field Card:
What about creating a homemade birthday card that is designed like a sports field?

This would be especially cute for a baseball diamond or hockey rink. The space on the "field" will also give you room to write a special message to them on their birthday.

A lot of craft stores sell patterned paper that looks like actual grass - that would be cute for a football or soccer field.

Or for a sports field - what about getting a little piece of Astroturf (or fake grass) from the fabric store to create the grass on the field? This would also be a cool way to add texture to the card.

  • Sports Shaped Card:
This could be a cute and easy way to acknowledge a love for sports - making the card into the shape of a football, basketball, volleyball or whatever sport is their favorite.

Or consider creating a card in the shape of sports equipment like a baseball mitt, tennis racket, surfboard, skateboard - or whatever their fancy is!

For a skateboard, consider getting really fine sandpaper to cut into the shape of a skateboard - this is being somewhat authentic (skateboard decks do feel like sandpaper, it helps the skater's shoes grip better) and it adds some texture to the card.

  • "You're #1" Foam Hand Card:
Or what about making the card into a foam hand that is signaling, "You're #1" - this would be adorable for a young sports fan!

You can even try to make the card fit over a hand so that they could wave it at their birthday party!

Craft and fabric stores sell sheets of foam if you were interested in creating a card that is somewhat true to form.

A homemade birthday card is a way to share with the special person how much you care for them. If you also share the love of sports with your birthday guy or gal then what better way to celebrate?

Even if it is not a particular sports season, they will appreciate that you recognize their passions and took time to create a truly unique greeting card.
