Homemade Fathers Day Cards with a Birthday Twist!

homemade fathers day card

Homemade Fathers Day cards can be a lot of fun, especially if your dad has a sense of humor!

This is a homemade greeting card that does double the work! It acts as a homemade birthday card and homemade Father's Day card all-in-one!

This card was made for my future step-father in-law, Jeff, and we were celebrating his birthday and Father's day on the same day. So what better way to celebrate by cooking up some homemade Fathers day cards with some extra good birthday cheer?!

On one side of the card, there is a "Happy Birthday, Jeff!" message, and on the other side of the card there is a "Happy Father's Day" message!

My fiance and I signed both cards, using the opposite sides of the inner card. Boy, did he have trouble figuring out why there were all of these messages, while everyone else who was looking at the card was cracking up.

This card is super duper easy to make, the novelty is that it is celebrating two holidays rolled into one.

So if you have a special occasion coming up soon, try to figure out if there are other holidays that you will be celebrating, too! That way you can make a duel card and have everyone sign it, bearing in mind that they will have to write multiple messages!

Material Needed:
  • Cardstock for the actual card, I used a pre-made white textured card that was 5" x 5"

  • Patterned paper - two kinds, one for each occasion being celebrated.

  • Computer, word processor, paper, and printer - for printing out your message, or you can rubber stamp your message.

  • Colored cardstock - to "frame" the message, I chose black and electric blue because they matched the patterned paper.

  • Scissors or a paper trimmer.

  • Double-sided tape for putting it all together!

Here is one side:

And here is the other side!

Step-by-Step Instructions:
  1. Trim and fold your cardstock to the desired size, if you need to.

  2. Trim your patterned paper to fit just inside the front and the other front of your card. I made the patterned paper 4.75" x 4.75" square.

  3. With your double-sided tape, attach your patterned paper onto the front and the other front of your card.

  4. With your word processor, print out your messages in fun fonts.

  5. Trim just around your messages.

  6. Trim your colored cardstock to fit larger than your messages, these will become your frames to the messages.

  7. With your double-sided tape, attach the messages onto their colored cardstock frames, and attach those frames onto the appropriate side of the card.

  8. Have everyone sign the card, remembering to write a message for each occassion being celebrated.
